Mikve

Budapest

The ritual bath, or mikveh, is one of the most basic requirements of religious Jewish life. It is a place of spiritual purification; its water must come from a natural source.

The bathing facility was designed as part of the conversion of an existing building. In addition to creating a modern, high-quality interior, our aim was to go back to Jewish traditions and allude to its ritual function. The marble-clad wall features the blessing of immersion, while the glass surface is decorated with a geometric pattern of repetitive star motifs to prevent anyone from looking in.

Project assignment: General interior design planning
